Large Relief Package Action Taken By The Karnataka Government


The Karnataka Government on Wednesday (6 May 2020) have announced a package of Rs 1600 crores for the alleviate economic distance caused by the covid-19 lockdown.

There are some people who have got some advantages through this relief package including barbers, washermen, autodrivers and many more.

1.) Foriculture

Most of the floriculture in Karnataka have fallen into loss of 11,687 hectares. Therefore Karnataka Government have made Foriculturists to receive a compensation of Rs 25,000/-  per hectare.



2.) Washermen And Barber

Washermen and barber will receive one time compensation of Rs 5,000/- each. This action have been set to benefit 60,000 washermen and 2,30,000 barbers.

3.) Auto And Taxi Drivers

Auto drivers and taxi drivers to receive one time compensation of Rs 5000/- which have been benefited for 7,75,000 drivers.

4.) No disconnection of electricity


  • ·        Incentives will be provided for consumers who pay electricity bills on time.
  • ·        There is provision for consumers to pay the electricity bill arrears in instalment.
  • ·        Electricity will not be disconnected till June 30th for those who have not paid the balance amount of electricity bill

5.) Relief for Handloom Weavers


  • ·        Under Rs 109 crore ‘Weavers Loan Waiver’’ Scheme, Rs 29 crore has been released in 2019-20, balance amount of 80 crore will be released immediately, aiding handloom weavers to get fresh loans.
  • ·        Government have also launched a new scheme “ Weaver Samman Yojana”, where government will deposit Rs 2,000/- directly to the bank account of 54,000 handloom weavers.

6.) Building Workers

Building workers have got a financial relief by the government. Government have transferred Rs 2,000/- each for 15.8 lakh registered building workers. Additional amount of Rs 3,000/-  for each of the building workers through DBT.
